I first became interested in photography in the late eighties but became more serious in 2010 when I bought my first DSLR.
I am not interested in any particular genre of photography, rather I am attracted by colour, texture, shape and form, the light or a moment in time. I enjoy visiting museums & galleries for architecture and people watching, and the coast for the colours, quality of light and sense of peace and space. I am not much of a planner and just enjoy seeing what happens on the day.
I like simplicity, so most of my images have a limited colour palette of complimentary or harmonious colours. I also enjoy black and white photography, but I do not always include a black point. I hope to communicate an atmosphere, emotion or feeling with my photography. I also enjoy creating a certain softness in some of my images utilising my own textures and white layers in post-processing. More recently, I have also started to experiment with in-camera techniques such as intentional camera movement and multiple exposures to create more abstract images.
Printing is very important to me and the final step in the creative process.
I live in Bedford with my husband, Jonathan who is also a photographer.
